The Octave Glen Elgin 2010 10 Year Old

nAn exclusive to The Whisky Shop, this single malt is a knockout from the Glen Elgin Distillery. Aged for 11 years in oak casks, this had its maturation process end with a flourish. It spent 3 months in an octave cask, a much smaller cask that allows for a much faster maturation, making a punchy, more intense dram. This was bottled in 2021 by Duncan Taylor for The Whisky Shop, and lies at a hearty cask strength 55.1% abv. The yield from this single cask expression was only 92 bottles, so we are expecting that these will be all gone pretty quickly.

nYou can expect the Glen Elgin character on the nose and palate, with whiffs of smoke and a characteristic Speyside fruitiness. Notes of almonds and marzipans arrive on a smooth finish, which accompanies notes of charred oak and vanilla. A splendid dram from a modest
